Information
ECF Membership: Gold Membership of the English Chess
Federation is compulsory for English players playing in the
FIDE Open and FIDE-rated sections of the Weekend Classic B.
Silver membership is required for all players in the
Weekend Classic A; U120 of the Weekend Classic B
and Classic Rapidplay A & B or a £6 pay-to-play fee will
apply for each event. Players can join the ECF by
telephoning 01424 775 222 or online via
www.englishchess.org.uk.
Ratings/Gradings: FIDE Ratings from the November 2012
list will be used to determine eligibility for the Open and
FIDE rated weekenders. Standard ECF grades published in the
July 2012 list will be used for the non-FIDE rated
weekenders. Rapidplay ECF grades published in the July 2012
list will be used for the Rapidplay tournaments. Ungraded
players should give an indication of their playing strength
and / or last published grade.

Watching the London Chess Classic: All entrants to
LCC side-events (except the Classic Blitz) will have access
to the Auditorium and Commentary room free of charge only if
space permits and after tickets have been sold on the day.
There will also be live coverage on screens in the foyer. To
ensure access at weekends, tournament entrants should
purchase a ticket. |

Junior Discount: Juniors are those born
on or after 1 January 1997.
Mobile Phones: Mobile phones must be switched off in
the playing hall. Competitors should avoid bringing phones
to the venue. You will be immediately defaulted if your
mobile phone makes any sound during play. Spectators will be
asked to leave the playing hall.
Right to refuse entry: The tournament controller
reserves the right to refuse entry without being required to
state a reason. The tournament controller also reserves the
right to transfer players between tournaments at any time.
Pairings: For all events, pairings will be made using
Swiss Master.
Disputes: Decisions of an arbiter (except decisions
under article 10.2) may be appealed to the appeals committee
provided that

within 30 minutes of the arbiter’s decision

Such appeal is accompanied
by an appeal fee of £10 which will be returned if the
appeal is upheld The appeals committee’s decision is
final and binding in all matters.
Withdrawals: No refund can be given to any person
withdrawing from, or not turning up to, any event. No part
refund will be given to anyone wishing to withdraw while the
tournament is still in progress. Full refunds will be given
up to Friday 23 November; between 24 November and the start
of the event a £10 admin fee to all refunds will apply.
Refreshments: There will be a full range of
refreshments at the venue as well as a good range of cafes
and restaurants in the local area. Please note food
purchased outside of Olympia will not be allowed into the
venue.
