Super Blitz Qualifiers
The Super Blitz is an invitation-only blitz chess tournament held as part of the London Chess Classic on Saturday 7th December. The tournament will feature the 8 Grandmasters of the XTX Masters London Chess Classic, as well as 20 invited guests. These players will be joined by 4 qualifiers from tournaments held during the London Chess Classic Festival. Four tournaments will be held, with the top four finishers from each tournament winning a seat in the Super Blitz - a chance to compete against some chess legends for a prize fund of £12,000.
Entrants to the Super Blitz Qualifier tournaments are able to spectate on the main event of the 2024 XTX Markets London Chess Classic or listen to the live grandmaster commentary, at no extra charge.
Participants
The Super Blitz Qualifiers are open to any player.
Prize fund
There is no prize fund for the Super Blitz Qualifiers but the top finisher in each tournament will gain a place in the Super Blitz tournament, to be held on Saturday 7th December, 4pm-9pm. In the event of a tie, the result of individual pairings will be used. If this fails to determine a winner, a play-off will be held.
Schedule
There will be 4 Super Blitz Qualifiers. These will take place on the following dates between 6pm and finish around 9pm:

Super Blitz Qualifier 2 - Saturday 30th December 2024
Super Blitz Qualifier 3 - Sunday 1st December 2024
Super Blitz Qualifier 4 - Friday 6th December 2024

9-round Swiss tournament.

Byes
No byes are permitted in this event, and players are expected to play in all 9 rounds.
Default Time
When the player’s time expires on their clock
Entry fee
£25. Entrants to the Super Blitz Qualifier tournaments are able to spectate on the main event of the 2024 XTX Markets London Chess Classic or listen to the live grandmaster commentary, at no extra charge.
