Weekend Rapidplays

There are two 7-round ECF-rated rapidplay tournaments at the London Chess Classic, open to everyone. These will take place on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December, starting at 10am and finishing before 4pm.

Entrants to either of the Weekend Rapidplay tournaments are able to spectate on the main event of the 2024 XTX Markets London Chess Classic or listen to the live grandmaster commentary on the day of their event.

Who can enter?

The Weekend Rapidplay tournaments are open to everyone. English players must be Gold or Platinum members of the ECF. Non-English players must provide their FIDE Identification Number (FIN) at the time of entry. If you do not have a FIN, you must apply to your own federation for a FIN.

Prize fund - £2,350 per tournament

1st - £500

2nd - £250

3rd - £100

Top women - £150, £100, £50

Rating prizes:

2000-2199: £150, £100, £50

1800-1999: £150, £100, £50

1600-1799: £150, £100, £50

under 1600: £150, £100, £50

Players may win more than one prize. In the event of a tie, prizes will be shared. The FIDE Rating List of November 2024 will be used to determine whether or not a player qualifies for a rating prize. For players without a current FIDE Rapidplay rating, the following ratings will be used instead: (1) ECF Rapidplay rating, (2) FIDE standard play rating, (3) ECF standard play rating, (4) other national rating.

Round 1: 10am

Round 2: 10:45am

Round 3: 11:30am

Round 4: 12:15pm

Round 5: 1:30pm

Round 6: 2:15pm

Round 7: 3pm

Time Control

10 minutes plus 5 seconds per move.

Byes

One half-point bye is allowed. Please indicate when entering whether you require a bye, or see the tournament controller after the round before the bye is required.

£30 before 22nd November 2024, £50 thereafter.
